Objectives :
Beside the cooperation with industry, SMEs, and other European projects, the Euro-NF NoE recognizes as a very important activity the liaison with international initiatives. Important international initiatives which follow similar or closely related scientific research directions, in the context of anticipating the Future Internet, are for instance the GENI project (US), the AKARI project (Japan), the U-IT839 (South Korea), or the G-Lab project (Germany). In addition to these initiatives, it is recommended to disseminate the knowledge of the NoE and to collaborate with leading research institutes outside of Euro-NF, like Princeton University (US) or the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT, Japan). The objective of this spreading excellence activity is to:

• to disseminate knowledge of Euro-NF to other communities and initiatives,
• to strengthen the international impact of Euro-NF with regard to the Network of the Future,
• to bring new ideas and research directions from outside into the NoE,
• to brainstorm with specialists on “Visions for the Future Internet,
• to provide an incubator for international collaboration,
• to keep track of international research directions.

Description of work:
To achieve liaisons with the international initiatives or top research institutes, existing relationships of Euro-NF members to international initiatives can be spread to the NoE. To formally express these liaisons, Memorandum of Understanding or Letter of Intend can be established. To foster collaboration among the partners, mutual consultations have to be supported. This may include:

• grants to arrange specific meetings, e.g. for discussion with leaders of selected initiatives,
• participation in concertation meetings or joint workshop, standardization meetings,
• invitations of key persons of international initiatives to Euro-NF events, like workshops or conferences
• Provide information via the dissemination and communication channels of the Euro-NF NoE using the Euro-NF web site.
